Your ShoreBank 2010 Mission Minute – A ShoreBank Customer Since Age 7

ShoreBank 2010 not only continues to tell people that where they bank makes a difference, but it also has surfaced anecdotes of how we have made a difference to you. Today, Noah Temaner Jenkins, whose ShoreBank relationship stems back to her first savings account with us at age 7, is sharing her ShoreBank mission minute.

I worry a lot about what these mainstream “investment funds” are using my money for. It can be very hard to figure out. I don’t want my money – little as it may be – to support activities that conflict with my personal beliefs. For example – I don’t want to drill for oil in Alaska or invest in companies that use child labor in China. When I asked my investment counselor at another large bank about these things, he looked at me like I had a frog on my head. He tried to help, but these investment funds are too complex to sort out. I am willing to get a smaller return on my investment in exchange for a clean conscience. But at ShoreBank, I get an equivalent return – interest rates are competitive. And at ShoreBank, I know that my money is being invested conscientiously, in important local development projects and businesses. Thanks ShoreBank!

Thank you Noah for banking with ShoreBank and for telling others that where they bank makes a difference!
